How to Confirm COD Orders on WhatsApp in Pakistan (Step by Step)
Short answer
Send every new COD order a WhatsApp message within minutes, ask the customer to reply YES to confirm or NO to cancel, remind twice if there is no reply, and ship only the orders that say YES. Do it automatically, so no order skips the check on a busy day.
Why COD orders need confirming
Cash on delivery is still how most Pakistani shoppers pay online. One e-commerce platform estimates it at 60 to 80% of online purchases (eGrow). Every order that is refused at the door costs you the courier charge both ways, keeps your stock in transit for days, and often comes back damaged.
Most refusals are not fraud. They are impulse orders, wrong addresses and people who forgot they ordered. A short confirmation catches almost all of them before you pay a courier.
Step 1: Send the confirmation within minutes
The customer is most likely to reply while the order is fresh. A good message has the name, product, amount and two clear choices:
> Assalam o Alaikum Ayesha! You ordered a Lawn Suit for Rs 2,450 (Cash on Delivery). Reply YES to confirm or NO to cancel.
Send it in Urdu as well for customers who prefer it.
Step 2: Remind before you give up
If there is no reply, send a reminder after about an hour, another after a few hours, and a final one the next day. Many customers simply miss the first message.
Step 3: Ship only what is confirmed
- YES: move the order to packing and book the courier.
- NO: cancel it and put the stock back.
- No reply after the last reminder: hold it or call once. Do not ship it blind.
Step 4: Flag suspicious orders
Watch for the same phone number placing several orders in minutes, incomplete addresses and very high order values from new customers. Hold these for a quick call before they ship.
Step 5: Track your confirmation rate
Count how many orders were confirmed, cancelled and left unanswered each week. If the unanswered share is high, your message or timing needs work.
Your options
- By hand: staff copy each order into WhatsApp. Fine for 10 orders a day, breaks at 100.
- A ready-made app: if you sell on Shopify, apps such as Confirmify add WhatsApp confirmation.
- A custom system: connects to your store, order sheet or Instagram orders, your couriers and your own WhatsApp number, with your rules for reminders and red flags.

Common questions
Do I need the WhatsApp Business API? For automatic messages at volume, yes. For a handful of orders, the WhatsApp Business app is enough.
Will customers be annoyed? A short, polite message with their order details reads as good service, not spam.
What about orders from Instagram or Facebook? They can feed the same confirmation flow, as long as the order details are captured in one place.
